Tuckey the Dumb Fuckey

Wilson_tuckeyWhy do we have to put up with the bizarre rantings of a man who has so obviously passed his prime? Today, somehow, Wilson Tuckey managed to get both feet in his mouth and still spout the most offensive and ill-considered crap I've heard for some time.

In commenting on the rising issue of the increasing numbers of asylum seekers heading toward Australia, Tuckey, the dumb Fuckey, said there are "narrow odds" of terrorists being on-board the vessels. Now, I'm not 100% sure where I stand on the delicate issue of illegal immigration and people smuggling, but of one thing I can be sure. These people are fleeing from horrors unimagininable to most Australians. They are in such fear for their lives that they are prepared to part with their life savings to sit crammed into tiny, filthy, leaking boats for a terrifying jouney into the unknown. If they are lucky, their boat will make it across the ocean before they drown, succumb to dysentry or some other horrific disaease, or simply vanish. If not, they will die cold, wet, scared and running for their lives. Even the knowledge that, should they make it, they face a lengthy stay in the modern version of a prison camp does not stop them taking these terrible risks to flee the hell at hom.

To suggest that the intent of these poor souls is to strike out at the very nation they are pinning all their hopes on is quite simply disgusting. What is the basis for Tuckey's assertion? Given the usual level of thought that goes into his statements, my guess is that it's nothing more than simple, unintelligent and unforgivable racism. I don't know about you, but I am fairly sure that the furthest thing from a refugee’s mind is lashing themself to an oil rig and blowing it, and them, to kingdom come. Asylum seekers are no more terrorists than members for O'Connor are intelligent paliamentarians. Tuckey deliberately ignores, or actually just doesn’t know, that the 9/11 terrorists were all in the US for years on legitimate visas, and the 7/7 London bombers were UK citizens; he’s hoping that there are enough dumb shits in this wide brown land who are as wilfuly ignorant as he is.

To say Tuckey has become an embarresment is an understatement. Every time he opens his mouth, people are incensed. He is an anachronistic dinosaur whose time has passed. He is holding a seat that could be occupied by someone capable of reasoned thought and debate (athough that is a big stretch when you consider Steve Fielding made it into the Senate) and he diverts attention away from issues by making people debate his sanity rather than the policies or actions we could take to deal with this extremely complex problem.

There was a time when parliament was a mysoginist, outdated boys club. Times have changed. Tuckey hasn't. So Malcolm Turnbull please do the right thing. Do something proactive about making people believe that you are a capable leader and revoke his endorsement for preselection at the next election. He's much better suited to sitting on his veranda throwing cats at kids who skateboard past his letterbox, not lobbing spite and vitriol from the back bench, making himself, and you, look stupid.
