Meanwhile, one gloomy winter afternoon, when my mind had ground to an utter halt, I resisted switching on the tele to watch some mindless soap opera and decided to read one instead.

Jane Green’s Second Chance, does not deserve even a first chance. It is 430 pages of fluff and two pages of substance.

I skim read the whole thing in two hours and felt utterly nauseated the whole time. The only other time I’d felt this bad was when I found a discarded novel on a train from Sydney to Newcastle and decided to fill up the two hour trip by reading it.

Needless to say when I arrived at my destination, nauseous and cranky, I put that worthless waste of paper where it belonged, in the garbage - which is exactly where this little effort is headed.
