2 Monkeys 4 Tigers

E-mail Print

I was living with my brother

We weren’t sleeping well

We ate tuna pasta night after night

We smoked too many cigarettes and the love Donny H. sung about no longer played

We had become dull.

A shitty jazz gig (if that’s what you’d call it) 5 nights a week was the only thing that got us out of bed for a month and a bit

I barely drank or jerked off which made me sick, quiet and mad

I would spit on lovers heads to spite what they had

I hated women and didn’t want to fuck them, too much effort and had grown scared of them

The Montego Brothers were living the good and the bad so they could write about it the next day

But we stayed indoors and didn’t write a thing

I don’t know what made me wake up and ride that night

I didn’t watch some movie about a cripple

Or read something inspiring

Or break up

Or make up

Or talk to God

My body just shifted without permission from the brain

Could have been instinct straight from the stomach

Fucked if I know

My brother was still sleeping in more ways than one

So I put on my hat and took his keys

I wanted to feel something again

I needed to feel the drink as I did in the past

I wanted not to give a damn

And be rewarded for my courage

So

I asked myself

What did I do for kicks before I straightened my ways

I drove there

And the cards were good

The whiskey rosed my cheeks

I checked out the ladies and once again blood rushed through my cock and

I gave each well-performed lady a standing ovation

I could have lost it all and walked away with a smile

Cause what’s a man without a hard on and no vice

The charm came back that night and with it some luck

I dropped 160 and swapped it for 2 monkeys and 4 tigers ($1400)

The sun came up and I was a happy-drunk, gambler again

It was a gorgeous day, not one I was going to waste

And I wanted my brother to have a taste of this moment

So I drove and bought two shiny surfboards and gave one to him

Cause he didn’t know how to drink or play cards
