After discussion with some of our writers and the twitterverse in general, we’ve decided to remove the comments feature from our site.

The reasons for this decision are fairly well summed up here but are mostly to do with the absolute need for moderation and the time we don’t have to do that properly.

This doesn’t mean we hate freedom or that are shutting down debate. Twitter links for all the writers who are on Twitter are published with each article. Or you can tweet us directly @kingstribune.

If you are not on twitter (why not?) you can This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , Facebook us or send us a letter (PO Box 185, St Kilda, 3182). We will publish the good ones on this page and possibly in the magazine.

Also, we’re going to trial comments on this page alone. If it gets abusive or pointless we’ll turn comments off completely and just publish letters/emails.

Without the resources to do moderation properly, no comments is the only way to go.

You could always have an "alert webmaster" option. Emails don't work if you are blocked, or do they?

Well are you a bunch of precious little Hitlers. I fail to see anything particularly wrong with the supposed display of 'real misogyny', apart from the reference to C*** sniffing. Did you not actually process what he had written? Instead of defending the dubious and misandrist statistics in your article you use his fair complaint as a lame excuse to shut your comments, just like the rest of the leftie media is currently trying to do. Well guess what? You are deluding yourselves like Murdoch and his paywalls. People in this century don't stand for Communist style censorship, be it from Conroy or tryhards like you lot. Smart people like Nick Denton from Gawker realise that commenters provide more insight than his own journalists, because anyone with anything worthy to say are not be the sort of losers to work as journalists/bloggers/propagandists.
