How does a Refrigerated Truck actually Works?

You might have seen refrigerated trucks being driven around in the highways. These trucks are so durable and can stand the test of time. Even so, it is not exempted to routine maintenance. But does it ever cross your mind how these trucks carry the power to keep its goods cold while being mobile? Well, the answer is fairly simple that it may surprise you. The very first thing that you have to understand is the basic principle behind new refrigeration equipment. The Trick to make the Cooling System Work

For refrigerated trucks to work, the compartment has to be insulated and sealed in order to create a “self-contained” atmosphere.

The insulation is also made using high density polymer foam which is almost the same with polystyrene. However, it is manufactured using higher density and an even more durable polymer than what you will find in regular polystyrene insulation. The insulation partnered with seal around the door is creating an atmosphere that’s heat-tight.

What has to be done next is to remove any heat that remained inside and any heat that’s coming in whenever the door is open. This is done by using a refrigeration system coupled with simple mode of operation. Basically, this has 3 mechanisms that are all working harmoniously and they are:

  1. Compressor
  2. Evaporator and;
  3. Condenser

Brief Process of Cooling the Truck

The condenser does consist of metal pieces of pipework that’s then twisted in convoluted shape. This is filled with a special type of fluid or called as coolant fluid. This will circulate all throughout the pipework and suck up all heat inside the freezer van.

It’s brought to the condenser once it has been transferred in a gaseous state. This mechanism compresses the gas down as tight as possible and places it in extreme pressure and forces all molecules together. When such happens, it is now placed in the evaporator. The machine takes the air from the exterior atmosphere and pushes it in the high-pressure coolant gas. The gas is reintroduced to the condenser to repeat the process. As the process cycle, the inside of the truck gradually becomes colder.
